The Torch Theatre was established in 1977 and we are proud to be one of only three building-based producing theatres in Wales alongside Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre and Mold’s Theatr Clwyd.

Chelsey Gillard, Artistic Director, joined the Torch in January 2023  - “We aim to offer something for everyone in our community. From our in-house full scale theatre productions to screening the latest blockbusters we have something for all tastes and ages. Whether you’ve been visiting the Torch for the last 45 years, or if you’ve never been here before you can be assured of a very warm welcome.”

Our offer to audiences is more than 2,000  events and activities each year and over 100,000 people join us. In our Main House, which seats 300 people and our Studio Theatre, which seats 102 people, and in our art gallery and the fabulous Café Torch, we invite people to come and enjoy at least two in-house theatre productions each year (including our very popular pantomime), drama, comedy, live music, ballet, dance, family shows, live broadcasts, opera and new work, as well as film screenings. And we’re open almost every day of the year.

As an important organisation in the creative community and on the skyline of Milford Haven, we also offer

  • Youth Theatre for Junior & Senior Levels
  • Torch Voices our community choir
  • My Moves, Disability Movement Groups led by Arts Care
  • Movies and Memories - dementia friendly film screenings
  • And we’re home to the Welsh National Opera's critically acclaimed Cradle Choir for people living with dementia
  • Sunset Cinema is our outdoor summer cinema programme which visits some of Pembrokeshire's and Carmarthenshire’s most iconic locations.

The Torch is led by Executive Director Benjamin Lloyd and has around 25 members of staff and a highly valued team of over 70 volunteers who assist in delivering our activities.

The Torch’s name originates from links with the oil and gas industry and the flame in the Torch’s logo celebrates the strong industrial history of Milford Haven and the surrounding region. In the last year we’ve added to this with our ‘Caru the Torch’ initiative which aims to get local people more involved in all our activities.

The Torch Theatre is a limited company with charitable status and is a publicly funded theatre supported by Arts Council of Wales, and the Welsh Government, Pembrokeshire County Council and Milford Haven Town Council. We are also generously supported by local businesses including Milford Haven Port Authority.

Jessica Hatchett

I always really enjoy going to the Torch Theatre. Great variety on show and friendly staff. The fact that they accept the Hynt card for disabled people and a carer makes me determined to visit even more.

Paul Williams

It has been our good fortune to visit twice in eight days. Firstly to see Lionel, The Music of Lionel Ritchie and then The Simon & Garfunkel Story. Both shows are not to be missed. Superb nights out a few minutes from our door at prices that undersell the quality of the show. What is not to like?

Sue Taylor

Overall experience was great, from the girls at booking desk to the staff showing us where to go and best of all the pantomime was excellent, so much fun, thank you all for a fantastic time x
