PEMBROKE secured local derby bragging rights on Saturday (Dec 16) as they edged another close encounter with Pembroke Dock Quins.
Both sides gave their all with some big tackling as both were keen to get the upper hand early on.
It was the Quins who took the lead as they took advantage of a Pembroke error and Gethin Bradney won the race to touch the ball down first. He then added the conversion.
The scores were level at half time though as Billy Kinnear went over from close range before Luke Alderwick added the extras.
In the second half it was Pembroke who got the all-important go-ahead score as Craig Williams went over. The conversion was missed.
Try as they might the Quins could not add to their score and it meant Pembroke held on for a second derby success of the season.
Aberaeron won for the eighth time in ten matches on Saturday as they beat Llangwm 45-0.
Ceri Davies, Geth Jenkins, Morgan Llewelyn, Rhodri Jenkins, Dyfrig Dafis, Osian Sychpant and Hefin Williams all scored tries for the visitors.
Rhodri Jenkins added five conversions as they secured a win against a dogged Llangwm side.
Cardigan remain top of League 3 West A after they beat Neyland 36-10.
A Shaun Leonard penalty gave Cardigan the lead and further tries were scored by Rhodri Jones and Alun Jenkins. Leonard added one conversion.
Inbetween those tries was one for Neyland as Owen Hamer went over for an unconverted try.
The home side held a 15-5 lead at the break and they increased that in the second half with tries from Emyr Harries, Jenkins and Leonard. Leonard converted all three.
Scott Buirds scored an unconverted try for Neyland late on but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback.
In League 2 West, Tenby United earned their seventh win of the season as they beat Mumbles 33-17.
Jack Brown scored two tries for Tenby while Liam Pugh and Gwion Jones also went over.
Harry Rossiter added two conversions and three penalties to get Tenby back to winning ways after defeat to St Clears the previous week.
Milford Haven's second half comeback wasn't enough to seal victory as they were beaten 22-14 by Carmarthen Athletic.
The Athletic worked up a 22-0 lead after tries from Tom Jones, Joseff Rhys-Ellis and Bradley Roderick-Evans.
Scott Maynard added two conversions and a penalty.
Milford fought back with a try from Jimmy Buirds, converted by James Trueman.
Zac Davies also went over and Trueman again added the extras but they were unable to find another score which could have given them a losing bonus-point.
In the WRU Championship, Crymych returned to winning ways after they beat Ystalyfera 36-7.
Tomos Lewis scored the only try of the first half, converted by Eilir George who also added a penalty.
Lewis added a second try early in the second half before Ystalyfera hit back with a seven-pointer.
Carwyn Rees and George then went over for tries with Adam Phillips adding the extras for a 29-7 lead.
George added the final try and Phillips added the extras to seal Crymych's seventh win of the season.
Narberth sit top of the table at Christmas after they beat Tata Steel 76-7.
It was an excellent day for the Otters as they sealed their eleventh win from as many games.
