Dan: As a keen Pembrokeshire Foodie, I’m always excited to hear about new businesses starting up offering something new on the food scene. I was delighted to catch up with Karan, the owner of Goodwick’s new Indian Restaurant, to hear about his plans for the future.

Good afternoon Karan, a pleasure to meet you. Can you give us a little bit of information about why you started Goodwick Indian Restaurant?

Karan: We started Goodwick Indian Restaurant to offer authentic food from the cuisine I love to Pembrokeshire people. There are many “Indian” restaurants and takeaways that use the BIR style of cooking, often based on Bangladesh cuisine, but we wanted to offer something slightly different with a focus on more authentic Indian dishes, healthy tandoori grill options, full of flavour and exciting ingredients that people might not have experienced before.

Dan: You bring years of experience with you to this new venture, can you tell us a little bit about your background in the takeaway industry?

Karan: I have worked in this industry for a number of years, initially in South Wales before moving to Pembrokeshire. I have a talented team of chefs you are great at making delicious food that draws from my inspirations whilst also appealing to what people here want to eat. I have always tried to combine flavours from abroad with British appeal, as you can see in my other businesses Goodwick and Fishguard Fish and Chips where we have large menus offering all sorts of items.

I want to give people choice for whatever they need and bring something new and excited to Pembrokeshire to enjoy.

Dan: I absolutely love Indian food, when I’m ordering I normally go for something hot like a Jalfrezi, what would you recommend from your menu to those unsure what to order?

Karan: We have a number of unique dishes which I hope people will love trying. For our Jalfrezi we have the “Goodwick Special” which has a combination of lamb and chicken served and made with stir fried and thick spicy sauce that includes green chillies and peppers.

I would highly recommend our Butter dishes, our Butter Chicken is a real crowd favourite. It’s a dish orginating from North India, with chicken indulged in a smooth and creamy sauce, it’s a complete smack to the taste buds. Absolutely delicious.

You can’t go wrong with classics like our Chicken Tikka Massala, which is one of our most popular orders.

We have a number of authentic Indian sides, desserts and beverages such as our Kadai dishes, our Rasmalai, Gulab Jamun and Mango Lassi. For those looking to try out new things, we think they will love our menu!

Dan: Thank you for taking the time to speak to me Karan and for letting me try some of your delicious food. Good luck for the future!
