We are proud to announce our continued partnership with Sandy Bear Children's Bereavement Charity, a remarkable Welsh organisation supporting children and young people through the difficult journey of grief. As community champions for Sandy Bear, we are committed to raising awareness and supporting their invaluable work across Wales.

About Sandy Bear

Sandy Bear is a specialist Welsh bereavement charity that supports children and young people aged 0-25 years, whether they are preparing for a loss or coping with one that has already occurred. Working throughout Wales, Sandy Bear ensures that children and young people have the best possible outcomes after losing someone they love.

Grief can have a profound impact on a child's emotional well-being, mental health, and future development. Through tailored support programmes, memory-making activities, and professional training, Sandy Bear empowers children and young people to express their emotions, build resilience, and find hope after loss.

Their Mission

Sandy Bear is dedicated to:

  • Providing specialist bereavement support for children and young people
  • Equipping families, professionals, and communities with the skills to help grieving children
  • Raising awareness about the impact of childhood bereavement

2025 Highlights

It has been an exceptional year for Sandy Bear, with several notable achievements:

  • Professional footballer Joe Allen visited Sandy Bear HQ to meet a young man who recently experienced bereavement. The visit was a tremendous success, with both Connor and Joe enjoying a meaningful morning discussing their experiences.
  • The Sandy Bear team has engaged with numerous Members of the Senedd and Parliament, with their Head of Service Delivery receiving an invitation to Number 10 Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister. These high-profile meetings highlight the exceptional support Sandy Bear offers to countless children and young people across Pembrokeshire and Wales, encouraging decision-makers to support charities doing such crucial work.
  • Local government support has grown significantly, with Tenby Town Council, Haverfordwest Town Council, and Neyland Town Council recognising the benefits of supporting Sandy Bear. This local backing strengthens communities by ensuring families receive proper bereavement support.
  • Sandy Bear has supported an increasing number of children and young people across Pembrokeshire and Wales, with demand unfortunately rising year on year. Their dedicated practitioners continue to guide young people through the most challenging times of their lives.
  • To diversify their income streams, Sandy Bear has launched a merchandise store offering pens, notebooks, t-shirts, and hoodies. You can support them by visiting www.sandybear.co.uk/shop/
  • The upcoming "Big Bash" event on 7th June at Withybush Showground ush promises to be a fun-filled, family-friendly day supporting not only Sandy Bear but also various local businesses and charities.

Looking Forward

We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Sandy Bear in the coming year. As one of their community champions, we will be bringing their vital work to our audience through several collaborative projects. We understand that charities like Sandy Bear face significant funding challenges, with over 80% of their income going directly to supporting children, young people, and their families, despite now employing 17 local people.

Our commitment includes raising awareness about childhood bereavement, promoting Sandy Bear's services, and supporting their fundraising initiatives. Together, we can ensure that no child grieves alone.

How You Can Help

Sandy Bear relies on the generosity of the community to continue its essential work. Whether through donations, fundraising, volunteering, or raising awareness, every act of support makes a difference in a grieving child's life.
