As we step into 2025, we caught up with Tom Slater, owner of The Glen in Haverfordwest, to reflect on a successful year and discuss what's ahead for this popular establishment.

"It's been quite a journey," Tom shares with a smile. "We've always focused on getting the basics right - good food, friendly service, and making sure everyone feels welcome when they walk through the door."

The Glen has earned its reputation for elevating pub classics with a refined touch, while maintaining the warm, casual atmosphere that keeps regulars coming back. "We're not trying to reinvent the wheel," Tom explains. "We just believe in doing things properly. Dishes like our signature burgers, fish and chips, and lasagna are great examples of crowd favourites done right."

The spacious layout of The Glen, including its ample parking and outdoor area with a children's play space, has proven particularly popular with families. "Having that outdoor space is fantastic," says Tom. "Parents can enjoy their meal while the kids have room to be kids."

Ending 2024 with a fresh website launch, The Glen has kicked off 2025 with an updated menu. "We've kept the favourites that people love but added some new dishes to keep things interesting. Our chef has some great ideas, and we're lucky to have such quality produce available."

Sports fans will continue to find a home at The Glen, with the Six Nations rugby being shown live throughout February. The venue has also welcomed the Stonemasons' pool tables following their recent closure. "It was important to us to provide a space for the pool players," Tom notes. "They're a great bunch and have added to the community feel we have here."

Looking ahead, Tom remains focussed on what The Glen does best. "We want to keep building on what works - good food, good service, and being a place where everyone in Haverfordwest knows they can come for a reliable meal or a good night out. Sometimes it's the simple things that matter most."
