Creative Competition Launched to Support Sandy Bear's Bereavement Charity

Spud Box, in partnership with Sandy Bear Children's Bereavement Charity and Connect: Pembrokeshire, has launched an exciting competition inviting children across Pembrokeshire to design a brand-new jacket potato that could become a permanent fixture on the popular eatery's menu.

The "Create a Spud Competition" challenges young minds to combine creativity with culinary innovation, choosing toppings and designing their perfect jacket potato while explaining their ingredient choices - whether they focus on local produce, healthy options, or family favourites.

"We're thrilled to give children the opportunity to make a real impact on our menu while supporting such an important local charity," said Spud Box. "This competition combines creativity and education, and the chance for young people to see their ideas come to life."

The competition, which runs until 4th July 2025, will see five finalists from different schools selected to prepare their creations live at Spud Box's Summer Fun Day on Saturday 19th July. Each finalist's school will receive £100, and all finalist spuds will be featured across social media channels.

The winning design will be added to the Spud Box menu for 12 months, with a percentage of every sale donated to Sandy Bear Children's Bereavement Charity, which provides vital support to families dealing with bereavement.

Sandy Bear's community representative Martin Jones commented: "We’re incredibly grateful to Spud Box & Connect: Pembrokeshire for their support. Partnerships like this not only bring communities together in fun, creative ways, but also play a vital role in helping Sandy Bear grow across Wales. With the backing of local businesses, we can support more children, young people and families who need us most."
