Pembrokeshire… Are you ready for a day of action to protect our waters and save our seas from sewage and pollution?
Join Surfers Against Sewage at Broad Haven on Saturday 17th May, to make a stand and be part of the national Paddle Out Protest, 2025.
There are events happening all around the UK, but ours is extra special because…
We are teaming up with the wonderful crew at Sunshine Italian (now called Rwts!) to host placard making activities from midday in their garden marquee (free). Suitable for all ages, this will be a great opportunity to come and learn about the cause, get involved and get crafty, while drinking coffee and eating great pizzas in the sun of course! There'll also be a beach clean kicking off at 1.30pm, to ensure our beautiful Broad Haven remains spotless for us to enjoy.
Please gather on the beach for 14.30pm, where we'll join together and hear from expert speakers Sian Richardson, Founder of The Bluetits cold water swimming movement, and Sue Burton, our Marine Special Area of Conservation Officer for Pembrokeshire. They'll talk about the importance of clean water for our social needs and community, as well as for the entire ecosystems that depend on it.
Then, there'll be a few words from Surfers Against Sewage, to get ourselves energised and ready for the main event – the Paddle Out Protest!
Join us and take to the water to make a big, bold splash to end sewage pollution. Let's tell the media and our politicians that we will not let this drop until they sort things out. Are you with us?
Surfers, swimmers, kayakers, paddlers, SUPers, and any other water-related sport welcome – we want as many bodies in the sea as we can muster!
After the Paddle Out, protesters will be greeted with a warm welcome (and a huge discount on food and local beers) from Sunshine Italian (Rwts) from 4pm, who'll be bringing the vibe with music, and a BBQ with a view. Get settled in, because there's a whole evening of fun planned, with a live band from 5pm and a DJ from 6pm, into the night.
Feel free to drop in and out, all activities are free. But if you can only join for one part of the day, please make it the Paddle Out, at 2.30pm.
The ocean is vital for our health, happiness and hwyl!
