You’ll struggle to find someone more enthusiastic about darts than Floyd “The Hammer” Bevan, an 11-year-old talent from Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. Floyd turns 12 this year and he’s absolutely mad about the sport which he practices regularly at home along with attending the plethora of events available for him in the county and beyond.
He loves hitting 180s, doing so on a regular basis at home but also in matchplay including at his most recent tournament he attended on the 5th of February.
He has enjoyed plenty of success already having reached a number of quarter-finals, with his biggest achievement coming in December last year when he won the “Lady and Youth Tournament” at The Kimberley, Milford Haven.
These regular events are run by the Swan Darts team - head up by duo Phil Dow and Rob Hughes, a former professional darts player himself. There’s always plenty going on in Pembrokeshire’s bustling darts scene thanks to their hard work and Floyd looks to involve himself wherever possible.
As well as his tournament success last year where he pocketed £160 in prize money, Floyd’s favourite moments so far have been being able to play against professional superstars Steve Beaton and Mervyn King.
His next goal is to win a Swan Darts qualifying tournament to play against professional darts player Wayne Mardle.
Beyond that, Floyd has long-term ambitions to make it in the darts world and will look to join “Q School” at 16 to attempt to win a place on the PDC Tour. Floyd is also looking at joining the Junior Darts Corporation (JDC), a passionate grassroots organisation helping juniors enjoy the game.
The team here at Connect: Pembrokeshire would like to wish Floyd the best of luck for his future and are excited to partner with Swan Darts for future events and news going forward.
