The new rugby season is on the horizon and there are plenty of changes on and off the pitch to keep us excited. Not only do The Blues have largely new and unknown opposition in their league this coming season following the restructure but Haverfordwest also have a new head coach in Simon Lepetit. New to the head coach role but a mainstay of the clubs coaching and playing staff for years now. He sat down with us to give us his thoughts on the coming season:
Thanks for taking the time to chat to us mate, it’s your first season as head coach, congratulations and how you feeling about it all?
I am very excited about this upcoming season. I have a good group supporting me. The team is as strong if not stronger than last season.
With the new season nearly upon us how has pre season gone?
Preseason has been hard but good. The team have worked hard on attack and Defence. Also lots of Fitness and skills work.
Last season showed the quality of your squad but is there any new additions to the squad this year?
There’s some players coming back from taken a year out weather it has been travelling or injuries. We have 9/10 youth players coming through as well which is really encouraging
What’s your thoughts on the new league structure? You’ve ended up being the only Pembrokeshire team in the third division with your closest game being Cardigan.
It’s a new challenge, it’s going to be tough travelling but there’s a real togetherness within in the squad to go to these places and get results.
And finally, what are your goals for the season?
We have set goals as a squad which we think are very achievable. We would be disappointed if we didn’t.
