A bank holiday to remember for Burton Cricket Club as their first team were crowned champions of the 2nd Division after a truly dominant season from a quality and tightly knit team. They went into the final day of the season with ground to make up on leaders Herbrandston, with both teams having already secured promotion to the 1st Division for 2025.

Carew seconds were the opponents and Burton's bowlers seemed keen to show it's not just the batsmen who are the stars of the show at Oatfield Park. They blew Carew's batting line up away bowling them out for just 64 in 23.2 overs, Luke Hayman who was the star of the show with the bat a week or so again led the way, this time with ball in hand as he took 3 for 12. Morgan Scale another who's made vital contributions with the bat this season took 2-16, while Jack Bevan took 2-16 in a dominant display of bowling.

Dan Llewelyn opened the innings with David Lewis and the result was never in doubt, after 15.3 overs of Burton's innings it was game over as they passed it for no wickets down. Llewelyn ending on 48*, with Lewis on 17*. From the sheer class of Toby Hayman and Kiff with the bat, followed up by almost a team of all rounders, Luke Hayman, Morgan Scale, Dan Llewelyn and Nick Jones making vital contributions with both bat and ball all season.

A real quality outfit and too good for division two in all aspects of the game. Burton have become an example of a very well run club, with their seconds also getting promoted yesterday, truly a day to remember for the club and one which I'm sure was celebrated long into the night.
