Two outstanding knocks from two of the county's best ensured Burton bounced back in style from there recent losses. Opener and skipper Toby Hayman has been the one of if not the most in form batsman in the county this year and once again blew the opposition attack away as he made 109 from 85 balls, which included fifteen boundaries. Fellow opener Jack Davies added 47 before he was bowled by Grant Cole. Venebles came in at three and added 21 before he was dismissed. This brought Kiff to the crease and he began a brutal attack making an outstanding unbeaten 102 from just 66 balls. When Hayman was eventually bowled Dan Llewellyn joined Kiff and joined the run scoring party as he ended the innings unbeaten on 49. All of this meant Burton made 345/3 a huge total and some of the bowling figures were fairly expensive as Lamphey's bowlers had no answer for Burton's batsmen.
In reply a wary and leggy Lamphey were skittled for just 88, with only opener Shelmerdine making an sort of notable contribution. Nick Jones was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts as he tool 4-13. The result means Lamphey's chances of survival look slim to say the least. While Burton closed the gap on Herbie to just three points a thrilling race for the title continues.
