Herbrandston stay the top of the tree with a faultless 116-run victory over relegation-threatened Llechryd. The win means Herbies's lead is five points after they picked up the full 20 points for this win. Meanwhile Llechryd now find themselves in deeper trouble, sitting in the relegation zone and eight points adrift of safety.
Batting first, Herbie posted a formidable total of 239 for 5. The innings was anchored by impressive performances from Charlie Malloy, who scored a quality 82, and Jack Nicholas, who top-scored with a well-crafted 90. Harry Nicholas also contributed a valuable 20 at the top of the order, while Dean John (14) and Ryan Davies (12) added useful runs down the order. Despite a valiant effort from Llechryd’s Tom Lewis, who took 3 wickets for 44 runs, the visitors were unable to contain Herbrandston's powerful batting lineup. Iwan Wyn Jones (1-39) and Joe Dow (1-35) chipped in with a wicket each, but it was not enough to prevent Herbrandston from setting a challenging target.
In response, Llechryd struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Herbrandston bowling attack. Joe Mansfield (27) and Jac Davies (28) provided some resistance, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered. Graham Keen's 18 and Tom Lewis's 10 were the only other contributions of note as Llechryd were bowled out for 123. Dean John was the pick of the Herbrandston bowlers, taking 3 for 25, while skipper Robbie Hood was equally destructive, claiming 3 for 13. Paul Nicholas also played a key role, finishing with figures of 2 for 19.
With this dominant victory, Herbrandston further cemented their status as title favorites, while Llechryd’s hopes of avoiding relegation are now hanging by a thread.
