First of all, congratulations. Back-to-back League Champions - an impressive achievement for any side in Pembrokeshire football and to do it undefeated too - how proud are you of what your team has achieved?
Hi Dan, thanks for taking the time to speak to us about our season, of course initially we are very proud of what the boys have achieved and won over the last 2 seasons, everyone involved has sacrificed a lot with what we expect and what goals we set.
It was a fantastic team effort across the board, I’ve seen you’ve had your presentation night - can you tell our readers who picked up the end of season awards for your team?
The players who picked up the awards on the night were:
• Top Goal Scorer - Rhys Dalling
• Supporters player - Rhys Dalling
• Young Player - Kyle O’Sullivan
• Players player - Scott Delaney & Will Haworth
• Managers Player - Scott Delaney
With preparations for the new season underway, has there been much change at Goodwick? Will we be seeing many new faces in the upcoming campaign at Phoenix Park?
The score of our squad has largely remained the same, we've had a couple of departures but some new faces joining the club too, including:
Nick Jones (24) Goal Keeper - previous clubs - Cinderford Town & Carmarthen Town
Rhodri Cole (25) Defender - previous clubs Carmarthen Town, Goytre Utd and Llanelli Town
The 2nds team have a new manager Chris Phillips, can you give us a little bit of information about what he’ll bring to the side and his plans for the season going forward?
Chris has joined us from Newcastle Emlyn where he won promotion and the double last year. We are delighted to have him on board and has recruited very well for the club and will be a great asset in progressing the reserves.
What are your expectations this season? We know the high standards you set at the club and we’ve noticed already that a number of teams in Division One have already strengthened so it looks like it should be a competitive season where you have to be at your best again.
The expectation is always to be at our best, in everything we do on and off the pitch, regardless if it’s training, match day, squad meetings, we go week to week, game by game trying keep our finger on the pulse. Every little thing done right, will hopefully paint the bigger picture successfully, that always comes with sacrifice and hard work though. As group of players and management we don’t sit on achievements for too long, as we quickly move on and refocus on what is next and that is trying to win the next game.
