Burton Cricket Club have sealed promotion to Pembrokeshire Division One following their victory over Pembroke.

Burton's brilliant promotion campaign has been led by skipper and star player Toby Hayman, but their victory on Saturday showed their quality as a team throughout, with Toby's older brother Luke the star of the show in the promotion clinching victory.

Luke's unbeaten 90 after his 3-28 with the ball ensured his team promotion whilst gaining ground on league leader Herbrandston.

Pembroke had set Burton a tough target of 242 following another great knock by their skipper Jack Harries and their chase was made even harder when they lost Toby Hayman to a very rare duck, with Kiff and Llewellyn also falling cheaply - three outstanding players for the team this season.

However, Venables and Luke Hayman took on the responsibility and batted brilliantly, with Venables making a 98 before he was bowled out by Harries. Hayman then saw his team over the line in the final over with three games to spare, with the help of Nick Jones who mad 6* at the end.

The win ensures Burton's well-deserved promotion and closes the gap on Herbie by a point with two games left to play.
