Goodwick United comfortably advanced to the quarter-finals of the Senior Cup with a victory over Herbrandston, thanks to a hat-trick from Will Haworth plus goals from Rhys Jones and Scott Delaney.

Will Haworth opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a cool finish from seven yards after a fantastic assist from fellow winger Dan James.

Haworth added another in the 21st minute after cutting inside onto his left foot before his shot was blocked, making no mistake when the ball came back to him to drill the ball into the bottom corner.

Haworth then completed a first half hat-trick in the 38th minute with an assist from Goodwick captain Scott Delaney.

As the second half began, Rhys Jones saw a free-kick saved by the Herbrandston goalkeeper who showed safe hands to catch the ball under tough conditions.

Just minutes later Rhys Jones did get on the scoresheet after bursting free on the right hand side, with a low drilled ball deflected in to the net to make it four.

Goodwick United manager Chris O'Sullivan made a trio of substitutions with Kyle O'Sullivan, Nathan Greene and Steven Dockerty entering the field. Unfortunately an injury soon after for Nathan Greene meant the Phoenix Boys were forced to play with 10 men for 20 minutes with no extra substitutes on the bench.

Despite playing with a man less, Goodwick continued to dominate play and push for another goal which eventually came when Sion O'Sullivan sent in a dangerous free-kick for Captain Scott Delaney to head home into the bottom corner.

In a game where Goodwick were on top from start to finish, credit has to go to a Herbrandston team who battled throughout in tough conditions with some talented youngsters in their team.

Goodwick's front three in particular showed their quality, where alongside Haworth's hat-trick, Dan James was a constant threat down the left hand side with great vision to craft the opening goal.

The Phoenix Boys will be thankful of Rhys Dalling's decision to remain at the club, with the forward's link up play to bring the wingers in to the game as excellent as ever.

The hunt for the treble remains well and truly on with all eyes on their trip to Seaside in a couple weeks times for their West Wales Cup Quarter-Final.
