In a dominant display of cricket, hosts Carew secured a comprehensive 178-run victory over Narberth in the Pembrokeshire First Division. Batting first the hosts posted a formidable total of 262 for six from their allotted 45 overs, with notable contributions from their top order batsmen. Morgan Grieve continued his rich vein of form, making 62, while the experienced Tim Hicks top-scored with a typically classy 72. All-rounder Rhys Davis added 57, ensuring that Carew set an imposing target. Sean Whitfield and Luke Hicks also chipped in with handy knocks of 32 and 11 respectively.
For Narberth, Matthew Johns was the standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 2 for 34. Louis Davis, Harry Phillips, and Davey Johns each claimed a wicket, but it wasn't enough to stem the flow of runs from the hosts batsmen.
In response, Narberth's chase never gained momentum. They struggled against Carew's disciplined bowling attack and were bundled out for only 84 runs. Louis Davis top-scored with 22, while Shay Norcross and Kyle Quartermaine managed 17 and 11 respectively. George Waters was the thorn in Narberth's side, ripping through them with a devastating spell of 4 for 14. Veteran Barry Evans complemented Waters' efforts with his crafty slow stuff, taking 3 for 27. Joel Reid also contributed significantly, picking up two for 15.
This emphatic win cements Carew's position in second place, trailing league leaders Neyland. Meanwhile, Narberth's defeat leaves them at the bottom of the table with 88 points, in danger of falling further behind. If they are to avoid relegation, a swift turnaround in form is needed very soon.
