Local sportswoman Jasmine Joyce has been selected to represent Team GB in the Women’s Rugby Sevens at the upcoming Olympics. Hailing from the Pembrokeshire city of St Davids, Jasmine's journey from a young enthusiast to an Olympic athlete is a remarkable story of dedication, talent, and perseverance.

Jasmine first picked up a rugby ball at the age of six, playing for St Davids RFC Minis and later for Haverfordwest RFC. Her exceptional speed and finishing skills quickly set her apart, leading her to represent Wales Sevens and eventually Team GB at the Rio 2016 Olympics. She continued to impress on the international stage, stepping onto the pitch at full international level for Wales and making her debut in the 2016/17 Six Nations squad against Scotland in 2017.

Known for her electrifying pace, Jasmine has proven to be a formidable finisher at regional level with the Scarlets and during her time with the Team GB squad in various tournaments. Her selection for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics further solidified her reputation as one of the top players in the sport.

As Jasmine prepares for the Preliminary Phase of the Women’s Rugby Sevens event on Wednesday, 24 July, the entire Pembrokeshire community stands behind her, proud of her achievements and inspired by her journey.

From all of us at Connect: Pembrokeshire, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Jasmine Joyce. Pembrokeshire will be cheering you on every step of the way!
