The Duggie Morris final, held at Burton Cricket Club, was a thrilling encounter between Carew and Neyland. Despite adverse weather conditions making the pitch challenging for batting, both teams showcased resilience and determination in this two-innings affair.
Carew were tasked with batting first on a damp wicket, which proved to be a tough challenge. Struggling against Neyland's disciplined bowling attack, Carew managed to post a modest total of 94 runs from their allotted 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. James Hinchcliffe stood out with an unbeaten 22, while Sean Whitefield contributed 19 runs. Andrew Miller was the pick of Neyland's bowlers, delivering a devastating spell to take 3 wickets for just 7 runs. Jack John provided excellent support, claiming 2 for 12.
Neyland's response was slightly better but still hampered by the tricky conditions. They accumulated 135 for 6 in their first innings, with Ross Hardy's 48 and Patrick Bellaby's 40 forming the backbone of their innings. Despite the pitch still favouring the bowlers, Neyland managed to eke out a significant lead.
As the day went on the wicket dried, batting became considerably easier for the second innings. Carew seized this opportunity to mount a spirited comeback. Morgan Grieve led the charge with a well-crafted 49, while veteran Tim Hicks added a valuable 39. Rhys Davis played a crucial role towards the end, remaining unbeaten on 31. Their efforts helped Carew to a much-improved total of 181, giving them a fighting chance in the match.
However, Neyland proved too strong in their second innings. Patrick Bellaby showed his experience and quality, scoring a commanding 69 not out. There were also important contributions from Paul Murray (20) and Andrew Miller (21 not out) that ensured that Neyland reached 141, securing the victory and the coveted Duggie Morris Cup.

The match was a testament to the competitive spirit and skill of both teams, but ultimately, Neyland's consistent performance across both innings earned them the cup.
