Pembroke County Cricket Club clinched an impressive victory over the MCC in a well-contested match hosted by Neyland Cricket Club. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Pembroke's decision quickly paid dividends as they dismantled the MCC's top order, courtesy of an exceptional bowling spell from Charlie Arthur.
Arthur was the star of the early innings, taking three of the top four wickets all without scoring. His aggressive bowling saw two batsmen bowled and one dismissed via his run out, leaving MCC reeling.
Despite the early collapse, MCC's middle order offered some resistance. Davies contributed a commendable 41 runs, while Doley added a solid 36. However, their efforts were not enough to lift the overall run rate significantly, as Pembroke's bowlers maintained tight control over the innings. Jonathan Rogers and Andrew Miller were particularly economical, with Rogers finishing with impressive figures of 1 for 17 from his eight overs.
The disciplined bowling performance from Pembroke saw the MCC all out for a modest total of 148 runs.
Chasing 149 for victory, Pembroke's innings was anchored by an outstanding performance from opener Paul Murray. Murray's run-a-ball 74, studded with nine fours and three sixes, was the cornerstone of Pembroke's reply. He remained unbeaten and guided the team home, showcasing both aggressive stroke play and resilience.
John Mansbridge provided solid support with an unbeaten 27, ensuring that Pembroke crossed the finish line comfortably within 31 overs. A brilliant game of cricket and great viewing to see some of Pembrokeshire's finest cricketers playing together.
