In a rain-affected match commemorating Haverfordwest Cricket Club’s bicentenary, the MCC (187 for 4 in 36 overs) triumphed over Haverfordwest (91 all out, chasing a revised target of 104 in 20 overs).

Haverfordwest CC celebrated their 200th anniversary by hosting the MCC, who fielded a team from across the country. Gareth Ansell, the MCC’s wicket-keeper/batsman, stole the show. Ansell, with strong ties to Pembrokeshire through his father Barry Ansell, played a remarkable innings, scoring an unbeaten 104 runs and hitting ten boundaries. His performance ensured the MCC reached 187 for 4 before rain interrupted their innings at 36 overs. Ansell's heroics extended to the field where he contributed three stumpings and a catch.

David Kirtley provided strong support with an unbeaten 44, while Haverfordwest bowlers Adam James, Chris Phillips, James Marchant, and Clive Tucker each claimed a wicket. Phillips also impressed with a spectacular catch to dismiss opener Ben O’Neill.

Due to the rain, Haverfordwest's target was adjusted to 104 runs from 20 overs. Despite the efforts of Mikey Jones (34) and Ben Field (19), Haverfordwest were bowled out for 91. Al Holdaway led the MCC’s bowling attack, taking five wickets for 14 runs, supported by Tommy Dalton and Simon Williams, who took two and one wickets respectively.

After the match, Haverfordwest CC Chairman Dave Loosmore expressed gratitude to the scorers, umpires, groundsmen, and organizers, and praised the MCC players for joining the celebration. MCC skipper Scott O’Leary reciprocated the thanks, lauding the club’s facilities and the active participation of young players. He also presented Loosmore with an MCC Commemorative Plaque, which will hold a place of honor in the club.
