Top local cricket umpire, Simon Richards from Sardis has been appointed to stand in the 2024 Welsh Cup Final, on Sunday (September the 1st) at Usk Cricket Club.

He has been officiating at the top table of Welsh Cricket on the South Wales Premier League, alongside accepting appointments in the South Wales Cricket Association since 2020, having previously umpired in Pembrokeshire. His appointments included the Harrison Allen Bowl Final, his last game in Pembrokeshire, alongside Dave Bonner (Saundersfoot) in 2019, Bonner officiating the Bowl final on Saturday (Aug 31), quirkily, in what will also be his final game,  in Pembrokeshire.

The Welsh Cup final, will be between the winners of Newport and Pontardullais, and the second semi final, which will be contested between St Fagans and Pentyrch, all four Premier League Division 1 sides.

Richards, who played his cricket for Llangwm and Hook, will have Ammanford based Huw Ledger as his umpiring colleague for the stellar showpiece game, which will be hosted by Usk Cricket Club.
