Johnston have had a good start to the season and would have been happy with their results to date. Saturday's test was their toughest yet as they faced top of the table Burton, a task that was made harder by lack of players available which saw them play with ten. Of all the teams to face with only 10 players, Burton would have been last on their list.

Toby Hayman and Kiff have been outstanding this season so far, they were in the runs again scoring 35 and 25 respectively, two relatively low scores by their high standards, and Johnston would have been happy to see them both dismissed for under 50. That however brought Jonathan Venables to the crease who took the run scoring mantle off his opening batsmen as he hit a brilliant 118 he was well supported by all rounder Jack Davies who made 66. Johnston never gave up but found it hard as Burton made 273 for 4.

In reply Lee Summons led the way as always with a typically classy 52, however everyone else failed to get going at all as they were bowled out for just 122. Morgan Scale following his interview with us took a brilliant 5-22 with his spin. Another excellent win for Hayman's men, while Johnston will write this one off and look to bounce back next week.
