Today and tomorrow (18th and 19th June 2024), Haverfordwest County AFC Chairman Rob Edwards and Chief Operating Officer Beccy Nuttall are visiting Spanish club, Atlético Osasuna.
La Liga side Osasuna are fellow members of the Union of European Clubs (UEC) and will be discussing issues such as community and fan engagement.
In April, both teams were named to the Executive Board of the UEC, an international organisation founded in April 2023 to provide a voice to the 92% of professional football clubs who today go unheard.
Through this Union, the aim is to democratise decisions in European football, giving each club a vote and preventing the destiny of European football from falling solely into the hands of the clubs with the most significant economic potential on the continent.
This will be the first of many trips from Haverfordwest to meet other member clubs to increase their network outside of Wales, and understand more about how clubs, big or small, engage with their communities and help drive their fanbase.
Commenting on the trip earlier this month on the Haverfordwest County website, Rob said: “It’s an honour for the club to have been voted on to the executive board of the UEC, where Beccy will represent us.
“Alongside trying to help fulfil the agenda of the UEC, it’s a huge opportunity to build our knowledge base and our network across Europe.
”We want to make the most of this opportunity, and will be reaching out to other fellow clubs over the next 12 months.”
