Merlins Bridge Under 13s Celebrate Incredible Season

Merlins Bridge Under 13s, led by coaches Eddy Collins and Geraint Thomas, have had an incredible season filled with numerous achievements and successes. The team emerged as League Champions, winning all 12 of their league games and scoring an impressive 158 goals while conceding only 7, resulting in a goal difference of +151.

In the U13s Cup, Merlins Bridge reached the final but narrowly missed out on the title, losing 3-2 to Goodwick. They won four games on the way to the final, scoring 33 goals and conceding 11, with a goal difference of +22.

The team's overall performance this season has been nothing short of remarkable. In a total of 18 games played, Merlins Bridge won 17 and lost only 1, scoring an astonishing 191 goals and conceding just 18, resulting in a goal difference of +173.

Their success extends beyond the domestic league and cup competitions with the young side also winners of the Kilgetty Centenary Festival, remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.

This month, the team recently participated in the Penlan Festival, where they had a great day out playing against teams from Rosehill, Ponterdawe, SA1 Dragons, Ystrad Gynlais, and Plough in the group stages. Merlins Bridge remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and faced a strong Penlan side in the final. After a 1-1 draw in the match, Merlins Bridge clinched the title by winning 5-3 on penalties.

Coaches Eddy Collins and Geraint Thomas expressed their immense pride in the team's achievements, attributing their success to the players' dedication, hard work, and willingness to learn and improve. The coaches emphasised that the lads have given their all this season, playing through pain and illness to achieve the success they truly deserve.

The support from parents has been crucial to the team's success, creating a great group dynamic where the players are not just teammates but also best friends. The Merlins Bridge Under 13s have demonstrated that with the right attitude, commitment, and support, young athletes can achieve great things in sport and beyond.
