We've been saying all season that Llangwm's chances of survival in this first division revolve massively around the form of the outstanding Steven Mills. One of the county's strongest teams were Llangwm's opponents on Saturday in Cresselly who themselves needed a win to keep in touch with the top two. Llangwm had the task of batting first and Cresselly would have known who they key wicket was. Mills' partner in crime Steve Inward wasn't in the line up which put even more pressure on Mills' shoulders. Pressure must be his middle name as he once again scored an outstanding century his 114 came from just 57 balls as his dominated everything the Cresselly attack threw at him. Crucially others stepped up and made some very useful runs, Waller (24), Chris Inward (30) and Williams (32) which meant that Llangwm had set Cresselly 277 to win.
Llangwm's attack didn't let anyone really get going in the chase, Tom Murphy the only batsman to make a half century as he scored a good 67 but ideally his team needed him to kick on. Mills was key again as he picked up the wicket of the dangerous Alex Bayley who was bowled by Mills for 32. Luke Brock was key in getting his team over the line as he took 4 wickets for just 7 runs, including the wicket of Murphy which was key. The win was vital for Llangwm and it lifts them out of the relegation zone, Cresselly stay in third but are now 20 points behind Neyland which is a significant gap.
