An old rivalry has been reborn with Haverfordwest returning to the first division, the Neyland vs Town fixture has produced some great cricket over the past decade. On this occasion Neyland were strong favourites with Town struggling so far on their return to the county's top division.

Haverfordwest won the toss and elected to bat first, their innings was given a strong foundation by opener Mikey Jones who added 54 from 112 deliveries. However none of the top order were able to make any meaningful contributions with number seven Will Phillips the only other batsman to pass twenty. Phillips added 28 from 62 balls and showed maturity and determination to ensure his team reached a respectable if not competitive total. The innings ended on 144/9, with the Neyland bowlers returning some impressive figures. Hannon and Miller went at just two runs an over, with Hannon also picking up two wickets to give him figures of 2/18. Jack John was the pick of the bowlers and picked up 4 wickets for 31 runs, while Tom Pritchard also took two wickets.

At the interval Neyland were strong favourites however Town have bowlers such as James and White who can skittle through any top order on their day. It however wasn't their day White bowled 7 wide balls and 2 no balls in his four overs, whilst James three over spell cost 37 runs. Credit however must go to the Neyland openers who made it hard for the Town bowlers. Koomen raced to 53 from just 43 balls which included four sixes, while opening partner Murray saw his team over the line with an unbeaten 64 which included nine 4s. It took Neyland just 20.4 overs to pass the total and they lost just two wickets in the process.

Neyland are in familiar waters as they sit top of the table, all be it with Cresselly hot on their heels. Haverfordwest on the other hand sit bottom of the league with just one win from five, that win came against a weakened Llangwm team which is a worry for Town. Despite having some quality players in their ranks the strength in depth seems to be an issue for Town.
