Pembroke Dock came into this local derby without a league win so far this season and sitting bottom of the table. A less than ideal start to the season for the Dock, whilst Pembroke in their return to the second division had already picked up two wins prior to this fixture.
Pembroke were first to take to the crease hoping to set a big target for the hosts to chase. A couple of the visitors batsmen got starts but nobody passed 50, Luke Butler added 46 whilst Billy Clark ended the innings unbeaten on 38. The real star of the show was Dock spinner George Smith who took an outstanding 5 wickets for just 10 runs, which was a huge factor in limiting the visitors to 152 for 8.
It was 153 to win for the hosts to pick up their first win of the season, Smith wasn't done yet as he added an excellent unbeaten 63 in what is one of most obvious man of the match performances you're likely to see this season. Smith will remember this day for years to come and it being against local rivals Pembroke makes it even sweeter. Other important knocks for the hosts came from Jake Davies 38 and Rhys Daley 22 as they passed the total losing just three wickets in the process.
A huge win for the Dock when they needed it most and they'll be hoping it's one that'll kick start their season, the win lifts them out of the bottom two above Llanrhian and Lamphey.
