Neyland 267/7 beat Whitland 92 all out

Newly promoted Whitland couldn't have asked for a tougher re introduction to the first division than a trip to champions Neyland. The visitors won the toss and elected to field first. Despite getting the early wicket of Sean Hannon through Cian Rees for a duck, Neyland set a very good target for the visitors to chase. Number three batsmen Dai Davies fell nine short of his century when he was caught off the bowling of Scott Newton. His 91 came from 119 balls and included eight 4s and three 6s, an innings we've seen so many times before from Dapper scoring at a tidy rate and setting his team up for a win. Ross Hardy added a useful 45 while lower middle order batsmen Page and Webster made good contributions with 28 and 35 respectively.

The innings ended on 267/7, Scott Newton returning figures of 3/36, while Cian Rees' spell was economical while picking up a wicket, his nine overs went for 30 runs. At tea Whitland knew they were really going to have to play at their very best to get close to this target.

The visitors however found themselves 28/5 and it was then effectively game over. Geraint Pugh showed some fight and and determination to get to 29 off 50 deliveries as did number ten Cian Rees who added 17. Andrew Miller did the bulk of the damage with the ball taking 5/26 from 9 overs, while Tom Pritchard and Jack John both picked up two wickets. Whitland's reply ended on 92 all out and the champions made the perfect start picking up all 20 points.
