Bank holiday Monday's games meant a quick turn around for the county's cricketers. Older players would have been feeling it come Monday evening or Tuesday morning. For the younger players around their mums would have likely been moaning about the whites filling the washing machine again.
Cresselly faced Llangwm who were on a high following their first win of the season, however Cresselly had too much for them and it was a comfortable win. Llangwm were dismissed for just 108 which was never going to be enough. Skipper Tom Arthur returned excellent figures of 4-6 while Charlie Arthur wasn't in the mood for sharing. He hit an unbeaten 87 chasing just 108, not leaving many for his team mates to get, however I'm sure they didn't mind watching his impressive innings with their feet up.
Saundersfoot scored 238 when the faced Haverfordwest who are in need of a win, and it proved too much for the newly promoted team to chase. Nick Cope fell just two runs short of a century in a brilliant innings, whilst John Mansbridge showed his class ending unbeaten on 69. The Field brothers both got starts and looked good both getting into the 30s, Haverfordwest needed one or both to go beyond a half century if they were going to get close to the target. However Ben fell for 35 whilst brother Dan made 32, Town ended on 173-8, which was 65 runs short of their target. Cope not only dominated with the bat but his 4-30 with the ball made him a shoe in for our man of the match.
Lawrenny could only manage 126 when they chased Carew's target of 206. Tim Hicks hit a brilliant century for Carew which really was the back bone of their innings. It wasn't all plain sailing for Carew with Finley Lewis a thorn in their side picking up 5 wickets conceding just 35 runs in the process. Lawrenny's reply never really got going with no batsmen getting passed the twenties. All rounder Jon Rogers bowled well for Carew and ended with 4-22, while in form Iori Hicks picked up 3 wickets for just 5 runs.
Neyland skittled Narberth for just 110 in their match and at tea Narberth would have been expecting the champions to chase that comfortably which they did. Andrew Miller picked up 4 wickets and Tom Pritchard 3 as Narberth's batting line up failed to get going, in recent weeks they have shown how dangerous and talented their line up is. Neyland passed the total losing just two wickets in the process at the hands of veteran Richard Howell who took 2-19.
St Ishmaels lost to Whitland in the game of the day which went down to the very last ball. This is our feature match in this round of fixtures so keep your eyes peeled for the match report.
