Burton 92/3 beat Hook 91 all out

Burton made their return to the second division a good one with a good win over local rivals Hook. Burton will be keen to bounce back into the top division under the guidance of new captain Toby Hayman. Hook themselves looked on track to achieve promotion last season but didn't quite get over the line.

Hook won the toss and elected to bat first however it didn't go to plan as they were only able to limp to 91 all out off 30.2 overs. Burton picked up Miller and R.Phelps early and continued to pick up wickets at key times throughout the innings. Opening bowler Luke Hayman picked up 3/28, whilst Nicholas Jones picked up 3/25 in what was a good bowling display from Hayman's men. Callum James top scored for Hook with 16 from 27 balls including a 6, but everyone else struggled to get going.

Burton set about their reply with a exciting opening pair of Toby Hayman and Joe Kiff, a opening pair that any team in the county would like. Hayman led by example and scored 35 from 38 balls with six boundaries before falling to Owen Phelps. Jonathon Venebles showed his quality and experience to see his team over the line with 39* in which he hit six 4's and one 6. Burton did lose three wickets in their chase to pass Hook's target in the 19th over and very comfortably in the end.
