An absorbing game of cricket, sponsored by Audrey John & family, was won off the last ball of the game when Whitland all rounder Geraint Jones (23no: 2x4) struck an on drive to boundary and secure a 5 wicket win for his side at St Ishmaels.
He shared in a crucial 44 run partnership with Geraint Pugh (44; 6x4) for the fifth wicket as momentum rose, after opening batsman Ed John (63: 1x6, 9x4) and Johnny Thomas (50: 9x4) shared a third wicket partnership of 127 to set up the foundations for a victory march.
Pick of the Mice bowlers were teenage seamer Thomas Williams (2-35) and his father Steve, who spun out his allocation of overs for 29 runs without claiming a wicket, but the elder statesman took two crucial catches at extra cover.  Skipper Jonny Pawlett also took 2-46 as he led the attack with gusto.
A big factor in the home sides inability to win was the bowling of 33 wides amongst 45 extras conceded in the innings, Whitland conceding just 12 extras during their 45 overs in the field, alongside injuries which curtailed the performance of some key personnel.
Having been asked to bat by visiting skipper Kevin Pearce, the Tish top order contributed to a total of 231-8, openers Phil Llewellyn (16: 3x4) and Karl Rhead (20: 4x4), both falling on 40, a watchful Pawlett stroking 38 (6x4) and all rounder Brennan Devonald (77: 2x6, 9x4) taking the total to 138-2 with 15 overs remaining, Devonald departing with the score on 167 signalling an uplift for the visitors as the run rate stagnated in the final ten overs.
The Borders bowlers all contributed to ensure the innings didn’t leave them array as spinner Jonny Thomas (1-32) supplemented teenage opening bowler Cian Rees (2-32) and Connor Bowen, whose mixture of seam and swing snaffled him 5-34, Wales veteran international Stuart Carpenter astutely marshalling the lower order in the final overs to end 48no (3x6, 4x4) from 28 balls.
The maximum points victory lifts Whitland out of the relegation places to seventh ahead of next weeks tussle at the Gerald Hicks a memorial ground, Carew with, whilst St Ishmaels remain one place above their opponents as they look to regroup and get their full quota of availability ahead of Saundersfoots arrival next Saturday on the Dale peninsula.
