Newport Tigers picked up an important win on the road with a 4-2 victory over Johnston 2nds in Pembrokeshire Division Four on Saturday 2nd November 2024.

The game came after an entertaining 5-5 draw between the two sides just a week earlier.

Johnston took the lead from a corner kick, with Captain Billy Davies cross headed in by centre-back partner Ashden King at the near post.

During a good half of football, Johnston created a handful of chances but were thwarted by a number of great saves from the Newport goalkeeper and captain, Matthew Williams.

Made to rue missed chances, Newport hit back just before half time with Jac Griffith's looping volley catching out the Johnston 'keeper.

Newport then took the lead with their first attack of the second half, with Griffiths once again finding himself through on goal, with an excellent finish to make it two.

Much improved from their first half performance, the visitors made it three on the 66th minute with a goal from Jacob Lewis.

Johnston pulled a goal back just five minutes later, with Keegan Codd sweetly connecting on the volley with a ball from Ashden King's corner.

Hopes of a comeback were short-lived, with the visitors restoring their two goal cushion through Lewis Banks who headed home from a corner to seal the victory for his side.
