Merlins Bridge progressed to the next round of the West Wales Cup with a 4-0 victory over Carmarthenshire side Pembrey with a brace for Tomos Gwilliam and goals for Hayden Dimond and David Cromwell.

After a goalless first half, Tomos Gwilliam opened the scoring in the 62nd minute with a close range finish thanks to an assist from Nathan Evans.

Gwilliam then made it two just four minutes late with an excellent goal, picking the ball up deep before dribbling past two defenders and calmly slotting past the keeper, expertly slicing through the Pembrey defence.

Hayden Dimond, who proved a threat for the Wizards all game with his hard work up top, finally got his reward after being tripped in the box for a penalty which he then stepped up to slot him for his first goal for the club.

David "Davs" Cromwell then found himself 1-on-1 with the keeper after being played through by Hayden Dimond, keeping his composure with a brilliant finish through the legs to round off the scoring for the hosts.

It was also great to see Josh Thomas back in a Bridge shirt, returning to action from the bench after a long period out of action from an ACL injury he sustained two years ago.
