A fantastic second half performance saw Monkton Swifts secure an excellent victory over high flying Tenby in Pembrokeshire Division One.

The Seasiders came into the game in good form with their only defeat of the season coming against league leaders Goodwick United.

Monkton Swifts were looking to build on their West Wales Cup victory, after three consecutive losses in the league following a previously strong started.

It was the visitors who started the strongest, with summer signing Joe Leahy at the heart of their attacking play.

Daryl Williams beat the offside trap, beating the onrushing goalkeeper with his outstretched leg to put his team in front with a smart finish in the 36th minute.

Joe Leahy got his reward for a fine first half performance to double the lead in the 38th minute, after previously hitting the crossbar twice and having a goal disallowed for his side.

Elsewhere, Sam Butler was a constant threat down the left, getting involved with a number of crunching encounters with the Monkton defence.

The Swifts came out in the second half with a new lease of life, pulling a goal back through Ryan Hughes in the 53rd minute thanks to a Nathan Ferrier assist.

Jay Kilby then equalised for the hosts in the 56th minute.

A third goal in 13 minutes saw Monkton Swifts take the lead, with Nathan Ferrier finding the back of the net to give his side the lead.

The in-form Paul Miller grabbed his sixth goal of the season to extend the Swifts' lead in the 82nd minute.

Tenby searched for a late comeback of their own, clawing a goal back through Fraser Finlay, set up by Joe Leahy, but it was only to be a consolation with the Swifts hanging on for a fantastic victory.
