There was plenty of drama in Pembrokeshire Division Three on Wednesday (2nd April 2025) with Kilgetty 2nds defeating local rivals New Hedges Saundersfoot in a thrilling contest.
The visitors knew a win would secure promotion and keep them in the title race ahead of Saturday's encounter with table-topping Goodwick United 2nds, but their local rivals were eager to rain on their parade, making full use of the midweek fixture by playing a strong team containing the likes of Kyle Marsh and Jordan Gorman.
Despite a strong first half of football for Saundersfoot, it was the hosts who took the lead in the 41st minute with Jordan Gorman cooly slotting home to give his side a 1-0 lead, showing little signs of tiredness from his previous night's 90 minutes against Carew.
New Hedges Saundersfooted United responded immediately in the second half with Tom Mansbridge firing home after a corner - video here.
16 minutes later and with the visitors in the ascendency, substitute Billy Lawrence fired them into the lead after being played in by Harvey Drummond.
The lead was not to last long, with Kilgetty responded just six minutes late with Jamie Keating scoring from a rebound.
Not content with just an equaliser, Kilgetty continued to push forward in search of victory, doing so five minutes later with an absolutely brilliant header from youngster Mason Abbott, worthy of winning any game.
As New Hedges Saundersfoot United pushed for a late equaliser, goalkeeper Sam Franklin made his way up the pitch for a last minute corner, with Kilgetty clearing their lines before Jordan Gorman calmly slotted home a fourth goal to seal the victory for his side - video here.
The win sees Goodwick United 2nds crowned Division Three Champions.
Goodwick will host New Hedges Saundersfoot this Saturday in their final game of the season, where as New Hedges Saundersfoot United have an additional game to play against 3rd place Pendine, with everything still to play for in the promotion race.
