Pembrokeshire Divisions 3-6 Cricket Roundup, Saturday 23rd August 2025

Pembroke Dock (116-4) finished their season on Saturday (Aug 23) with the Albert Scourfield cup in the hands of captain George Smith and they completed their season with a 6 wicket win at the Athletic Ground over hosts Neyland II (112ao), Smiths off spin taking 4-29 in the victory march, fellow spinner Scott Griffiths (2-30) and seamer Euan McDonald (2-22) supporting. Ashley Watkins top scored for the ‘All Whites’ as first wicket down, with 45 which included eight boundaries before he became the first of Smiths wickets on 62-2. Tom Grimwood was unbeaten on 52 having hit a brace of sixes and seven boundaries having set up the victory with a 70 run second wicket partnership with opening batsman Anton John (33; 1x6;6x4), Evan Roberts taking 2-12 in the 18 overs bowled before the win was secured, Neyland finishing bottom of the table
Promoted alongside the Dock are Fishguard & Goodwick (28-1) who accounted for Hundleton & Wallaston (27ao) by 9 wickets, Ashish Jayes the star bowler with 6-11 whilst Shaun Sinnott took 3-15, before Ollie Sinnott scored an unbeaten 15.

Relegated alongside Neyland are Hook II, (116ao) who lost on the Racecourse by 8 wickets to Haverfordwest II (118-2), teenager Dylan Lee (2-27), Kieran Williams (2-8) and the wily old stager, Nigel Morgan (2-6) the pick of the Towns bowling, Kieran Sinclair with 21 for Hook. Left hander Morgan then scored an unbeaten 27 in support of Ashoka Senavirathna who top scored with an unbeaten 46.

Lamphey (202-9) finished the season in third place after they returned from the Clive Huxley memorial ground with a 21 run win over Bosherston & Stackpole (181-8). Rob Mathias was unbeaten on 46 with the other main run gatherers being David Blackwell (38) and Grant Cole (25), slow bowler Simon Bevan (2-22) and Dan Bower (2-17) the most successful ‘Lillie’ bowlers. Bevan then donned the pads to score 24, with Paul Oeppen and Josh Davies both contributing 25, spinner Hywel Gibbs taking 3-39 alongside 2-9 from his captain, David Dredge.

The final game in division 3 was at Kingsmore, where home club Kilgetty (117-4) beat Laugharne (113ao) by 6 wickets, Anthony Lewis with 3-31 stemming the run flow of the prolific visiting captain Callum Collins-Davies (46), Richard Prout with 3-17 before he top scored in the run chase with 31, alongside the venerable Geoff Marsh (30) and Jack Cole (29no), Greg Taylor taking 2-20 for the ‘Dylan Thomas’ village side.

Rowland Cup winners in division 4, Pembroke II (204-7) finished their season at Treleet with a 131 run victory over visiting Crymych (73ao), opening batsman Wil Davies dismissed a run shy of his half century having struck a six and eight boundaries, adding 87 with Andrew Hay (33; 3x4) for the first wicket, Paul ‘Chalky’ White taking up the mantle with 35 (4x4) alongside sporting all rounder Phil Jones (25; 4x4), Ben Palmer (2-25) and Ifan Lewis (2-31) the pick of the mountain men’s attack.

Rob Smythe 4-34, Rob Hearn 5-19. Opening bowler Rob Smythe made early inroads with 4-34, which included a hat trick spread over two overs, before slow bowler Rob Hearne finished off the game with 5-17, opening batsman Richard Thorne top scoring with 27 (1x6; 4x4).

Also promoted are Saundersfoot II who were awarded maximum points as visitors to the King George V field, Llangwm II were unable to field a side and find themselves bottom of the league and relegated alongside Llanrhian II (123ao) after they were beaten by Carew III (125-8) and the most picturesque ground in Pembrokeshire, overlooking Carew Castle. Ianto Hicks (3-20) and slow bowler Jeremy Griffiths with 3-22 were the Rooks main wicket takers, Rick Walto contributing 36 for the ‘Cows’. The Carew youngsters of Elliott Waters (29), Finn Bowie (28) and Jac Scourfield (24) saw them home despite the efforts of Michael Lawrence (3-41) and Billy Clarke (3-16).

St Ishmaels II (210-5) lost their final game at home to Lawrenny II (212-3) by 7 wickets finished third, old stager Kevin Bowen scoring 73 from 35 balls, with a six and thirteen fours having added 114 for the fourth wicket with teenager Charlie Welch, who was unbeaten on 45 (4x4), opening batsman Darren Hawkins (43; 6x4) and Nathan Thomas (30; 4x4) also significant the contributors to the Mice total, opening bowler Noah Williams taking 2-34 for the Gavanyards. Steve Cambell opened the innings and was third man dismissed on 144 having struck 84 with elevn boundaries, wicketkeeper Jonny Beff unbeaten on 49 (1x6; 5x4) as he added 68 for the fourth wicket with Williams (32no; 5x4)to seal the win in the last over.

Narberth II (133-7) stayed in the division as they returned from the Racecourse with a 3 wicket win over Haverfordwest III (129ao), Ethan Blockwell (26) and Jason Stobbs (25) scoring well for the Town as seasoned campaigner Richard Howell (3-16) and Ceri Davies (3-8) were the main bowlers for the visitors. The equally mature Andrew Williams opened the innings with 40, Davies contributing 34, home captain Mark Davies taking 2-19 alongside a polished performance from Jason Philips (2-9).

Herbrandston II had secured the Einion Richards cup the week before in Division 5 and didn’t have a scheduled fixture, Llechryd II (125-9) promoted alongside them despite losing their encounter at the RDM Oval by 1 wicket to Hundleton & Wallaston II (129-9). Opening batsman Phil Carter (67; 10x4) anchored the home sides innings as David Lockyear (3-25), former Carew tearaway Mathew Phillips (2-27), Luke Williams (2-2) and Evan Clark (2-12) bowled well for the Pembroke village side. Connor Beynon top scored with 34 (7x4) as opening bowler Tom Beard (2-22) alongside Peter Gregory (2-7) and Dan Moulster (2-30) kept the game interesting Phillips and last bats(wo)man, Ffion Ashman both hitting a boundary as they secured victory having faced seven deliveries between them which ensured they remained in the division by 2 points at the expense of Haverfordwest IV (75-2) despite their 8 wicket win at Imble Lane over Pembroke Dock II (71ao). Teenage spinner Harri Ateyo was again the star bowler for the Town with 7-16, Luke Murray top scoring for the Dock with 30. Greenhill Headteacher then gave a masterful batting display in with 28 to set up the victory Jacob Jones taking 2-20, Neyland III, who had completed their fixtures were also relegated as they bottom of the league.

The final game was at Springfield, where Whitland II (178ao) lost to visitors Cresselly III (269-3) by 91 runs, the Doves total built around a century from top order batsman Scott Arthur (129) and teenager Ollie Rowlands (57). Rowlands then took 2-14, Craig Wade with an unbeaten half century and Joel Evans (39) batting well for the Borderers.

The Aston cup in division 6 belongs to Pembroke III (125-4) who defeated the combined Cresselly & Haverfordwest side (121-6) by 6 wickets on the artificial wicket in Neyland, opening batsman Kevin Truswell (48) and Dan Scourfield (32) both unbeaten when the game was won, teenager Ed Raymond takin 2-19 for the combined side.

Lamphey II (202-4) ended the season victorious over bottom side Whitland III (199-9) by 6 wickets, the Stags man of the match being Jonathan Edwards as he scored 50 and took 3-14, top order batsman Tom Colley unbeaten on 91. Anerian Bendall took 3-32, the Borders runs coming from Rhodri Lewis (48) and Aled Jones (44) after Fluer Davies had taken 2-33 in the Lamphey innings.

Llechryd III (94-3) secured the second promotion place as they beat visitors to Preseli School Kilgetty II (91-AO) by 7 wickets, Jonathan Stevenson scoring half his sides runs with an unbeaten 46 supported by Ben Turnbull (31) after Simon Newlands had taken 5 wickets for 4 runs in the Kilgetty innings, visiting skipper Dyland Phillips top scoring with 31 alongside Dylan Duffy (27).
