Out of the four Senior Cup quarter-finals this one always looked on paper like it would be the closest and it certainly lived up to its billing with plenty of twists and turns.

Cup holders Clarbeston Road are currently in third place in the league, but by their own admission have not hit the heights of last season's campaign, struggling to consistently hasve their full strength side available.

Tenby are right behind them in 4th place with four games in hand and have built on their previous campaign with the addition of Joe Leahy helping them push on. In the previous round the Seasiders came through a mammoth tie that finished 3-3 after 120 minutes against Pennar Robins, before finally prevailing in an epic 16-15 penalty shoot-out.

With the match going ahead on Clarby's second pitch due to poor weather, this was always going to be a challenging game for both sides.

The hosts finally found the breakthrough at the end of the first half with forward Ben "Rocky" John giving his side the lead.

As both teams came out in the second half looking to push on and find another gear it was Clarby who added another, this time through midfielder Jake Booth.

With Clarby set for a semi-final berth, Tenby clearly had other plans and soon responded with a quick trio of goals to completely swing the tie in thei favour. Scott Ferney pulled the first back in the 74th minute before Captain Dan Storer levelled just two minutes later. Leahy completed the turarnound just two minutes later again, putting his side ahead with just 12 minutes left to play.

With the final whistle approaching, Clarby summoned up some of their "cup magic" once more - just as young Jake Wesley's hat-trick knocked out Carew or Mansell's penalty saved denied Rhys Jones - there was to be another historic bit of drama to keep the Farming Army alive.

Once again the reliable Ben John found the back of the next, rifling into the top corner after a pass from Travis Jones, forcing 30 minutes of extra time.

The added period was uneventful, with two tired sides unable to force a breakthrough, meaning it was time for a dreaded penalty shoot-out to finally settle the tie.

Mansell, who had proved the hero in last season's final at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, was to be so once more, saving two Tenby penalties to give his side a 4-1 victory.

Clarbeston Road will now face Milford United in the semi-finals at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium, with Pennar Robins v Hakin United making up the other semi-final following their victories over Letterston and Goodwick United, respectively.
