Can you share with us some details about the size of the new venue and what it enables you to do as an organisation?
Our new store measures 6,224 square feet and is more than twice the size of an average Specsavers store in the UK, which measures 2,865 square feet. It boasts 14 test rooms, including two dedicated audiology suites, which help us better meet the growing demand for sight and hearing tests in the area.
As the largest Specsavers practice in Wales, and one of the largest in the UK, our store is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology and state-of-the-art training facilities to deliver exceptional care. These services will help alleviate pressure on local NHS resources, providing convenience and vital support to residents.
It was fantastic to see the support of the local community at the event launch with so many visitors and interaction from local press and members of the public. How important is it to you to have this strong relationship with the people of Pembrokeshire?
It was amazing to see so many people from the local community at our launch event. As a locally owned and run store, the people of Pembrokeshire are at the heart of everything we do and our strong relationship with them is key to our success.
We also have a really great relationship with our local health board and are really proud of the fact that we were one of the only optometry practices in the UK to support the NHS throughout the pandemic by staying open to treat patients.
Speaking of local people it was great to hear the catchy jingle from one of your employees Kyle Kirkhouse, a friend of mine and a really talented local musician. Can you tell us a little bit about how the idea and creation for that came about?
The jingle was created by Specsavers as part of a pan-Wales campaign to encourage people to act fast and visit their local optician when faced with sudden eye problems.
We heard it and loved it, so Kyle came up with his own rendition of the song to perform at the launch event. We thought it was great!
Now a little bit of time has passed since your move, how have you found it and are you enjoying your new home? As we look ahead to the rest of 2025 do you have any more plans for the future that you can share?
Myself, my partner, Andy Britton, and our team are so pleased with the new store and are delighted to share it with the community after two years of planning and preparation. We are confident that our investment will bring lasting benefits to Haverfordwest for years to come.
In 2025, we will strive to continue providing our customers with an excellent experience from start to finish. We will also continue supporting the local community through volunteering and charity initiatives like Feed the Community, a monthly event held at the HaverHub where we provide free glasses cleaning and repairs.
