Carew hosted Cresselly this week in Division One, as the two unbeaten sides faced off at the Gerald Hicks Recreation Ground. The home side won the toss and decided to bowl. Two half centuries from Cresselly helped them to reach the huge score of 286-9 after their 45 overs. Tom Murphy (82) and Simon Cole (68) both played their part in Cresselly scoring one of their highest totals of the season so far. Both Tim (3-60) and Iori Hicks (3-41) did their best to limit the visitors, however the Cresselly batsmen proved too strong for the bowling attack to deal with. In reply, both Tim and Iori Hicks chipped in once again with 30 and 24 respectively, with George Waters also adding 23 to the score. However, they were no match for the Cresselly bowlers, with the Arthurs, Tom (5-28) and Ollie (3-23), combining to limit Carew to 140 before they were bowled out. A massive statement victory for Cresselly, who leapfrog Carew at the top of the division.

Burton picked up a crucial victory at Oatfield Park, as they aim to create a gap between them and the bottom three. Skipper Toby Hayman made the bold choice to bat first, a decision which evidently paid off. The home side scored 172 before being bowled out in the final over, with Joseph Kiff (37), Dan Llewellyn (23) and Martin James (21) all contributing to their total. However, they were restricted by Saundersfoot’s bowling attack of Nic Cope (3-24) and Jon Mansbridge (3-51) who did well to prevent Burton from making the target any higher. Sam Franklin and Tom Mansbridge joint top scored for the visitors with 23, however Burton’s bowling proved too strong as they bowled the visitors out for 97. Morgan Scale (4-15), Luke Hayman (3-25) and Jack Davies (3-32) picked up the wickets as Burton secured a vital 19 point victory in their quest for survival.

Neyland jumped above Saundersfoot into third place following their win over Haverfordwest. The visitors won the toss and bowled first at the racecourse, with Sam Laugharne the pick of the bowlers with the impressive figures of 3-6. He was backed up by Ross Hardy (2-10), Andrew Miller (2-12) and Jack John (2-15) who took the remainder of the wickets to see Haverfordwest bowled out for 94. Rhys Sewell top scored for the home side with 23 from number six before he was run out. Up stepped the Neyland batsmen, with Paul Murray scoring 24 from the opening position. Ashley James (1-21) and Clive Tucker (1-35) picked up a wicket each, however Ross Hardy (23) and Dai Davies (22) remained at the crease to ensure Neyland passed the target in the 22nd over. An eight wicket win for Neyland as they move into third.

Lawrenny hosted Whitland as they looked to build on last weeks win against Burton. They opted to bowl first, with the Lewis’ the pick of the bowlers. Jamie (3-22) and Oscar (3-24) both impressed during their spells. Gethin Scourfield top scored for the visitors with 31, with Whitland struggling to get him out until the 36th over, when Jamie Lewis dismissed the Whitland opener after his 100th ball at the crease. Rob Williams joined in the action to ensure Whitland were bowled out for 129. Harry Thomas (20) and Oscar Lewis (15) had an opening partnership of 38 before Harry was dismissed. This saw a bit of a collapse in the Lawrenny batting lineup, as six wickets were lost with the addition of only 51 runs. Geraint Jones (3-57), Jonathan Thomas (2-13) and Scott Newton (2-24) picked up the wickets for the home side. However, Lawrenny found the answer in Joe Kidney (27no) and Will Allen (22no) who remained at the crease to ensure the home side won by three wickets.

Llangwm travelled to Herbrandston in the hope of a slight change in fortune following their winless start to the campaign. They opted to bat first, calling Herbrandston into action right away. This was no problem for Charlie Malloy, who picked 7-27 in his unbelievable spell. His fellow opener Robert Hood picked up the other three wickets (3-27) as Llangwm were bowled out for 55. Herbrandston passed the target for three wickets with Dillon Lewis top scoring with 16 not out. The home side add 19 points to their total for the season and move to within one point of Lawrenny who are above them in the table in fifth.
