Carew and Cresselly once again won as they compete at the top of the table, both possessing 100% records. Carew hosted Herbrandston, where the visitors won the toss and elected to put faith in the bowlers. It was Tim Hicks once again providing the magic for the home side, scoring 115 not out as the home side reached a total of 249-4. Shaun Whitfield also contributed with 51 not out, as well as Adam Chandler who added a further 34 to the board. It was Robert Hood (2-22) and Paul Nicholas (2-50) who picked the wickets up for the visitors. Kristian Bennett impressed with the bat for Herbie, however his 57 not out wasn’t quite enough to help his side reach the target, as they were bowled out for 145. Sam Harts (6-25) and Shaun Whitfield (2-30) ensured Carew picked up a 104 run and 20 point victory.
Cresselly also picked up a big victory, as they travelled to third placed Saundersfoot. Cresselly elected to bowl, putting faith in the impressive Tom Arthur to once again provide the goods, which he did, taking 4-35 in his spell. Sam Franklin was the second of three centurions in the division this weekend, as his 106 not out backed up by Yannik Parker’s 30 saw their side reach 209-7 off their 45 overs. Sam Franklin also provided with the ball, picking up four wickets for 30 runs in his spell. Tom Mansbridge also provided once again with the ball, he was 2-34 off his spell. However, Cresselly were able to chase down the target, with Phil Williams (54), Tom Murphy (39) and Alex Bailey (30no) aiding their side in achieving the victory by 2 wickets. 18 points added for Cresselly, as they remain within 4 points of Carew at the top of the table.
It was a comfortable victory for Neyland as they travelled to Llangwm. Neyland chose to bat first, putting on an impressive 280 runs. Dai Davies scored his maiden century of the season, scoring 108 in his impressive spell at the crease. Sean Hannon’s 61 and Alan Webster’s 25 also had a hand in their side giving Llangwm the difficult task of chasing 280. Toby Asson was the pick of the bowlers for Llangwm, picking up 3-49 off his spell. Alan Webster made life difficult for Llangwm with the ball, his 5-22 made him one of only two bowlers to pick up five wickets in the division this weekend. Huw Brock (52) and Iwan Griffiths (36) did their best in trying to reach the 280 set by Neyland, however Keiran Arran (2-38) helped to ensure Neyland won by 102 runs, bowling Llangwm out for 178.
Whitland hosted Haverfordwest, with both sides hoping to move further away from the bottom two. Haverfordwest chose to bowl, with Clive Tucker (3-27) and Jake Merry (2-28) both achieving impressive figures. However they weren’t able to keep Whitland within the 200 mark. Kevin Pearce (52), Glopal Ramasamy (37) and Gethin Scourfield (36) all contributed as the hosts reached 204-9 after 45. Whitland’s bowling attack impressed, as they bowled Haverfordwest out for 120. Iwan Bevan was the best of the bunch, his 4-12 was added to by Geraint Jones (3-32) and Jonathan Thomas (2-35) as they picked up the 84 run victory and added maximum points to their tally.
Burton travelled to Lawrenny and chose to bowl first, with Luke Hayman picking up 4-29 in his spell. Alfie Buckle and Rob Williams both scored 31 runs each for the hosts, but Gavin Campbell (2-21) and Morgan Scale (2-41) restricted the hosts to 173 before they were bowled out. However, the Lawrenny bowling proved too strong. Rob Williams (3-23), Jamie Lewis (3-26) and Finley Lewis (2-21) saw Burton bowled out for 106. Lawrenny achieved maximum points, winning the match by 67 runs.
