In a compelling display of youth football, the PPA squad recently faced Cheltenham Academy U10s in what proved to be a challenging yet rewarding professional fixture.
The match presented another excellent opportunity for the PPA squad to test themselves against professional opposition, and they certainly rose to the occasion. Throughout the season, these young players have consistently demonstrated their ability to compete at the highest level, setting impressive standards collectively.
The fixture was notably demanding, with the teams battling through 80 minutes on a full-size pitch. The fast-paced, intense nature of the game created a physically challenging environment, but one that ultimately made the journey worthwhile for the PPA contingent.
In goal, Gethin Lewis delivered an outstanding performance, whilst the defensive unit comprising Frankie, Preston, Charlie, and Lucas found themselves continuously occupied throughout much of the match. The attacking players—Harry, Ozzy, Chick, and Kian—faced significant challenges covering the expansive pitch whilst maintaining their offensive threat. Despite these difficulties, they fought admirably and were unfortunate not to convert more of their opportunities.
Both Kian and Ozzy managed to find the back of the net, with their contributions helping keep the contest remarkably close.
The coaching staff, expressed genuine pride in the squad's performance, highlighting their collective work ethic and evident team spirit. The narrow 3-2 defeat has only strengthened the group's resolve to improve and develop further as a unit.
Gethin Lewis was named Man of the Match, with his exceptional performance during the first three quarters proving crucial in keeping his team competitive.
The coaching staff extended sincere gratitude to all parents for their ongoing support and commitment.
