St Ishmaels moved up to third place in the Pembrokeshire Division One table with another convincing victory to continue their strong form, defeating Merlins Bridge 5-2 at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village.
With more adverse weather leading to a string of postponements across the domestic fixtures, this was one game that was never in doubt, taking place on the Wizards' all-weather surface.
The hosts had enjoyed a recent upturn in fortunes with three wins on the bounce, but such is the fantastic season Tish are having - with only two narrow league defeats thus far - there is no doubt that the Mice would have earned the tag of favourites beforehand, a title they appear to be relishing.
Their remarkable turnaround in fortunes, from beating the drop last season to challenging at the top of the table this campaign has largely been down to the inspired form of forward Aaron Hallam, who bagged himself another brace, taking his tally to 24 goals in all competitions.
That's not to take anything away from the rest of the team, filled with plenty of youth which Hallam is quick to credit for making his job easy. At the other end of the pitch, club talisman and Captain Brennan Devonald has led from the back in his performances, also popping up on the scoresheet as he often does.
The other goals for the visitors were scored by youngsters Finley Armstrong and Tyler Sheil, with both goals for the hosts scored late on by youngster Tomos Gwilliam.
The result sees St Ishmaels now level on points with 2nd place Monkton Swifts, although they have a game in hand over them.
Although the prospect of a league title looks unlikely - if only for the incredible form of their formidable local rivals Hakin United - a second place finish seems genuinely achievable. If Hallam and co keep firing, you certainly wouldn't bet against it.
