Sixteen-year-old Finley Bennett from Pembrokeshire is preparing to take on an extraordinary challenge – a 42.2km solo marathon swim to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and UNICEF.
Finley, who has been swimming since the age of three and competing since nine, has already made waves in the sport as a multiple-time Welsh Champion. He recently placed 8th in Britain in the 7.5km open water event, but now he's setting his sights on something far bigger.
The marathon swim – equivalent to the full 26.2-mile running distance, but in the water – will take place in Wales with support from safety crews and lifeguards as Finley pushes himself to complete the gruelling test of endurance.
Through his platform fins.swimforimpact, Finley is combining his passion for swimming with raising awareness and funds for two causes close to his heart. All donations will be split evenly between Cancer Research UK, which supports groundbreaking research to beat cancer, and UNICEF, which works to protect children and provide life-saving support across the globe.
