Title holders Carew (180-7) edged out Cresselly (176 all out) by 3 wickets. Cresselly elected to bat first and posted a competitive 176, Griff Jenkins (37), Christian Phillips (30) and Tom Murphy (29) all contributing to a total that promised a competitive second innings. Shaun Whitfield (3-20) and James Hinchcliffe (2-45) prevented the total from getting out of hand, leaving the rest of the work to the batting lineup. After teas, opening bowler Charlie Arthur (3-27) did wonders for Cresselly’s chances, dismissing both openers cheaply and denying batsmen Brian Hall (37) the chance to build to his half century. Carew kept plugging away however, Shaun Whitfield (36) and Gareth Lewis (24no) put up critical totals for their side, but it was Rhys Davies (20no) who eventually won his side the game, scoring a 4 to pass the total with only 14 balls to spare.
The week's standout individual batting performance came from Burton's Toby Hayman, whose massive 128 powered Burton (263-7) to a 124-run win over Whitland (139ao). Burton – electing to bat after winning the toss – opened with a dominant partnership from Hayman and Martin James (56), putting their side in a position of total control. Ethan Ryan (3-69) and Matthew Davies (2-38) were the pick of Whitland’s bowlers in what ended up being an expensive innings. Following the interval, Jack Davies (5-42) and Nick Jones (3-40) ensured that Whitland fell well short of the target. Whitland's reply had some bright moments, Kevin Pearce (41), Ethan Ryan (26) and Matthew Davies (23) all totalled more than 20, though all three eventually fell as part of Jack Davies’ 5-wicket haul.
Neyland (266-8) shook off their Harrison Allen woes by flattening bottom of the table Lawrenny (141ao) at home. Neyland won the toss and chose to bat, hoping to set their struggling opponents an unreachable total. Ross Hardy (100) took the initiative, scoring an aggressive century in 78 balls giving the boundary fielders plenty of leather to collect. Andrew Miller (45no) worked to put his side in a confident position for their defence, followed in output by opener Gregg Miller (27). Opener Ryan Morton (3-44) was Lawrenny’s only bowler to strike more than once. Going into the second innings, Lawrenny’s batting was much like their bowling in that they contributed many small successes rather than one large one; of the six batsmen to reach double figures, Rhys Eynon (20) was the only one to total 20. Lawrenny fell mainly at the hands of Dai Davies (4-50) who will likely not be too distressed by the 19 wides which it took to get him those wickets. In support were Andrew Miller (2-13) and Alan Webster (2-11) who efficiently neutered the middle and lower orders.
Saundersfoot (221ao) remain in touching distance of 1st after overcoming Narberth (186ao) by 35 runs. Batting after losing the toss, Saundersfoot’s Danny Caine (67) and Nick Cope (46no) were the main contributors in the first innings, with Ollie Cook (23) and Tom Mansbridge (22) chipping in usefully. Rhodri Dyer (2-47) and Matthew Johns (2-30) both took multiple wickets for Narberth, ensuring a full dismissal of the opposition. Narberth put up a valiant fight in the second innings, Jamike McCormack (48) and Lewis Hough (47) put together two near half-centuries that kept their side in the contest. Despite this, the unit of Tudor Hurle (2-12), Ollie Cook (2-21), Sam Franklin (2-46) and John Mansbridge (2-28) proved too much for Narberth as Saundersfoot ultimately closed out the win.
Herbrandston (100-2) recovered from last week's misfortunes by sweeping aside St Ishmaels (99ao) by a convincing 8 wickets. Herbrandston won the toss and elected to field, a choice justified by a restrictive bowling output. Charlie Malloy was the star of the show, taking 4-24 with the ball, Morgan Britton (2-20), Harry Nicholas (2-1) and Robert Hood (2-32) sharing the rest of the spoils. St Ishmaels' time at the crease was brief and turbulent, with only Brennan Devonald (34), Jonathan Pawlett (23) and Steve Williams (21no) scoring more than 3 runs; Their final wicket falling at the end of the 28th over. Charlie Malloy (40) also put his stamp on the second innings, where he opened the batting and top scored. Nathan Banner (29no) and Kristan Bennett (17no) then knocked off the rest of the runs unbeaten. Brennan Devonald (1-36) and Jonathan Pawlett (1-19) took St Ishmaels’ only wickets.
Division One Table (after Week 6): Carew lead on 99 points, followed by Saundersfoot (90), Neyland (85), Burton (59), Cresselly (58), Herbrandston (56), Narberth and St Ishmaels (both 43), Whitland (38) and Lawrenny (30).
