The Vikings and the Phoenix boys shared the points in a thrilling eight-goal top-of-the-table encounter at the Observatory Ground.

Both teams went into the game in good form, with 19 points each in the top two positions of the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Division One.

Hakin's hopes for the season would have been boosted by the return of Leon Luby from Ammanford and the signing of Alfie Stottor from rivals Merlins Bridge.

Likewise, Goodwick were also full of confidence following an 8-0 thrashing of Merlins Bridge the previous weekend but went into the game without their captain Scott Delaney and his brother Matthew Delaney.

Shane Walsh put the Vikings in front thanks to an assist from Leon Luby.

But the Phoenix Boys then took control of the game, going 3-1 ahead with a brace from Will Haworth and a goal from Rhys Dalling thanks to a hat-trick of assists from Rhys Jones.

Shane Walsh then halted the visitor's momentum with another goal after once again being set up by Leon Luby to make it 2-3.

The game was then marred by a red card for either side with Alfie Stottor being sent off for a two-footed challenge on Rhys Dalling, who also received his marching orders after lashing out with a headbutt.

Ben Aldred then pulled the hosts level from the spot to make the score 3-3 at the break.

Goodwick were then reduced to nine men as James Bryan was sent off for a handball in the penalty area, with Ben Aldred once again showing his composure from the spot to put the Vikings ahead.

But following the tradition of recent encounters, Goodwick once again struck late to salvage something from the game with substitute Nathan Greene scoring in the 88th minute after being set up by Jake Smith to make it 4-4.
