Narberth secured a vital three points in their hunt for survival thanks to a late winner from subsitute Lewis Bansal against Carew.
When the game was originally set to be played two weeks ago, many were billing it as a potential "six pointer", but with the Rooks picking up a convincing 6-1 victory over Kilgetty since, Carew had given themselves some breathing space above the danger zone with four consecutive wins under Jack Christopher.
Visitors Narberth would have been desperate to return to winning ways after a three game run of losses against tough opponents Hakin United, Tenby and Monkton Swifts, and would have undoubtedly earmarked this local derby as a game where they must get something - with fellow relegation battlers Fishguard Sports having the luxury of games in hand despite being three points below them.
In truth, the game was far from a classic. A heavy pitch and a few notable squad omissions such as Marcus Griffiths meant that Carew struggled to take control in the game, with Narberth battling hard and attempting to attack direct.
Arguably the best chance of the second half fell to Sam Christopher in the 56th minute, after finding himself through on goal following a well-timed run, before firing over.
As both teams grew tired, the game looked to have fizzled out in to a bore draw, but subsitute Lewis Bansal had other ideas, stepping up to fire home a fantastic free-kick from outside the box.
The result sees Narberth stay three points above safety with 15 points, with Fishguard Sports also picking up a vital away win over Pennar Robins, taking their tally to 12 points having played four games less.
